Let’s talk mental health

 How many of us have heard of mental health?  It’s becoming more and more of a common problem in todays increasingly difficult times.  Workplaces and schools advertise “mental health matters” and “mental health awareness week” but when it comes down to it what does it mean and do they support you? Have you ever had to take time off work, school or college with mental health problems?  Were you treated with respect and care or were you made to feel you had done something wrong?  Schools send out fines to parents for poor attendance, work places issue warnings for your attendance not being up to standard.  Does this help or does this make the student/employee feel even more useless, even more unsupported and under valued? What can be done in these situations to make things a little easier?  A little bit of compassion and understanding maybe.  Finding out what help or support the individual may need.  Not handing out punishments for something th...

You taught me all I know

Mam You gave me my love of crafting.  You taught me to knit when I was nine and it all took off from there. I learnt to cross stitch not long after and that was my main obsession for many years.  I taught you too after you hurt your back and had to have months of bedrest. Card making came next and I loved to make cards, you were always my biggest fan and I loved showing you my new creations. I taught myself to crochet as I had always loved the way it looked.  I taught you this skill too and you made blankets for some of your grandchildren.  You didnt get to make them all one as you sadly passed away aged 55 on the 10 April 2020 at 5.25pm.  Taken far too soon but our adventure continues.  This blog is the start of my Mam and Me crafting.
